Piedmont Habitat for Humanity: Homeowner Education Workshops
- Organization Details
Piedmont Habitat partners with individuals, churches, businesses, civic organizations, government, schools, and other nonprofits to help build homes and repair homes. We serve those in need of safe, decent, affordable housing in the counties of Prince Edward, Buckingham, Cumberland, Charlotte, and Nelson. Applicants are considered who have a demonstrated need for an improved housing situation, the ability to pay an affordable mortgage or home repair loan, and are willing to partner with Habitat through volunteering.
The ReStore, our retail store, resells gently used donated furniture, household goods, appliances, and building materials and uses the proceeds to help fund the housing mission.
- Services Offered
These classes are available for free to the community at large. All of our Habitat partner families are required to take a series of 6-8 two-hour workshops covering a range of topics to prepare for affordable homeownership. Topics include budgeting, understanding credit, loans, insurance, and much more. Upon completion, participants receive a certificate that is required by certain lenders.
